Osaka Grill Japanese Restaurant

Casual place for hibachi plates and sushi. We came to dine in on a Sunday evening. The restaurant is small and simple with just a few tables. But it looks like most people order to-go, and the pick ups for orders were coming in pretty steady while we were dining there. I ordered a hibachi plate with steak and shrimp, it comes with soup (I had miso), grilled veggies and fried rice. Honestly I prefer just plain white rice with my hibachi or teriyaki. We also ordered Crab Rangoons to share and while I admit they were perfectly fried, crispy and not greasy I didn’t taste or find any crab inside, but I am not sure what filling should taste like but I think it was mostly cream cheese. My husband had seaweed salad and Tokyo sushi roll and he liked both. Service was quick and friendly. I had a few questions regarding the menu and received detailed explanation.

Pictured is the red light roll without cucumbers. Yum!!! From what I can tell, this is a family owed restaurant. We've visited many times on different days of the week and various times. If you are in a rush and do not want to wait, then do not go at the peak of dinner time hours. This is a small restaurant with 1 to 2 people serving food, which is fine, and they have a high volume of to-go orders. They are busy, which is good. Have we had a hiccup? Sure, but it was not that serious. You pick a seat when you walk in, and you pay at the counter. Also, paying at the counter when the younger family member was working was smooth and he did a fine job. The only thing I suggest for the atmosphere would be background music. Overall, this place is amazing, and we would go once a week if we could.

i’ve been here several times, and I would recommend it. It is one of the most authentic Japanese that you can get in Greer. the only thing I would love to see on their menu would be Onigiri, curry and ramen, and that’s only a suggestion it’s pretty amazing as is. Also, in my opinion, one of the more affordable Japanese in town, but I suppose that does depend on what you get.

My kids ate there in store and brought us home takeout when they were done. In store, the girls felt the food was pretty standard and more bland than what they are used to eating. We had hibachi and sushi for take out and the fish for sushi was good quality well put together. The hibachi shrimp had nice shrimp and decent amount of food. Fried rice is pretty basic but adding a little hot spice to it made it work well.

We came here Saturday as a last minute choice of where to eat. Never being here before I noticed how small it was on the inside and how little staff was working. Needless to say, the service and food were both amazing! So much so that we came back last night for my nieces birthday! We showed up with about 2 hours before they closed with a party of 9. Even though they were clearly not prepared for the size group we had, they made the best of it and so did we. Our server, different than the last time, we overwhelmed but kept great communication with us and kept expressing how sorry she was that things were taking a while. Most of us are in the customer service industry and we know the challenges that everyone is facing right now. Same as when we went on Saturday, the food and service was awesome! Even though we were still there after closing time, they still supplied us plates and utensils at the end for us to cut a cake that we brought on our own. The owners gave my nieces asian drinks for their birthday and enjoyed some cheesecake with us. These types of establishment are ones that I will always support and recommend. They will always take care of their customers and make sure they are happy.

The food was pre-cooked from what I could tell and as a rule of caution, those of you that love crab rangoon, pass on this place. The staff was wonderful and the atmosphere was lovely for a smaller restaurant. Even watched Bob Ross while I ate. If I could compare the restaurant it would be with Fuji, better atmosphere but let down by the quantity and quality of the food. Granted I didn't eat any sushi.
